Switchplanet seems to be the all-free all-the-time version of Peerflix. I signed up with them and it seems to be in a similar vein to bookmooch, in that they use a light touch with the peering; no mailers, no shipping charges, no membership fees, just a transparent information clearinghouse so people can connect and trade items. If someone requests something from you, you send it. They hope that you'll send it with good packaging but they don't seem to penalize you if you don't.
You have the option to buy in to the system as well by purchasing their barter currency, switchbucs. Peerflix had these originally but has moved to a stricter valuation system based on USD.
The site seems responsive and fairly well-populated, with a strong "Green" theme.
